“Look around – and be distressed,
Look within – and be depressed,
Look to Jesus – and be at rest.” – anon.
I look around me all the time. Don’t you? We compare and complain too much about the things that we don’t have that we fail to recognize the things that we do have. We always drool because other people have the very things and the very “blessings” that we have been asking God.
Then I look within me and see how inadequate and unfortunate I am. Insecurity begins to rear its ugly head and then I get depressed. Why them and not me? Am I not good enough? Can’t I be “blessed” the same way they are blessed?
Suddenly we snap back to reality that the more we look at others the slower we run our race. Instead of looking left and right, why not just focus your eyes on Jesus and be at rest.
“Come unto me those of you who are heavily laden and I will give you rest”- Matt. 11:28.
Don’t let the weight of the world slow you down. Run the race with the prize in mind.
