Daydreaming my way to reality
There’s a lot of things I would rather be.
I wanted to be an international flight stewardess because I wanted to travel the world for free.
I wanted to be a Doctor’s wife because of the prestige and the freebies.
I was at one time the mother of Prince Harry and Prince William. The wife of a much better looking Prince Charles, taller, broader shoulders, killer smile- more like Prince Charming.
Many times, I was the perfectly humble and prettiest woman who had everything she could ever want – a beautiful mansion with numerous cars, a personal driver who took me to my vacation villa in the mountains when I got tired of going to my own island to escape the pressure of my multi-billion dollar business empire.
How could I fail to mention that I was once the much sought after TV personality who trained newscasters from CNN and BBC. Did I tell you that it was I who mentored Oprah and gave her the break that catapulted her to where she is now? Christiane Amampour always asked me how to go about her investigative reports, just to, you know, pick my brain.
Then I woke up and smelled, not the roses, but the smog. Watched TV and got updated of the additional casualties of Iraq, listened to the radio and heard the soaring food prices and the never ending increase in gas prices.
Should I just wish to sleep for the next hundred years? Or daydream my way to eternity? Oftentimes I would if I could. But I know I can put my faith and my trust in my God who supplies all my needs and a few of my wants as well.
I know i’m still learning to be content with whatever I have right now and I have a long way to go. We can’t have everything we want, but we can enjoy everything we have by having a grateful heart.
Don’t stop dreaming, I haven’t. Who knows, maybe one day Christiane Amampour would really call me and ask me to do an investigative report.
Just don’t live in dreamland for the rest of your life and forget that you have a reality that is waiting to be realized.
