“My desire is to drink strawberry champagne”

A broadcaster, when on air, needs to convert his two hands into four – to prepare the next song, read the text messages, click on the messages sent via YM, scan prepared materials for the program.

This morning Ate Faith, our internet broadcast listener from Canada ,sent me a long message via Yahoo. So, as I was reading text messages while preparing for my songs and at the same time scanning my prepared material for the song intro, I picked out words from her message and sent out greetings on the air for her. In her message I picked out the following words dinner out, my desire and strawberry champagne. My greeting for her went something like this. “ Hi Ate Faith, thank you for tuning in, wow, its so romantic that you and your husband just came home after having a quite dinner somewhere…and you desiring to drink strawberry champagne? hmmmm do I sense a celebration coming? Di ba? when one says champagne, celebration agad to! And Strawberry pa? Galing!” And then went on to play my next song.

While the song is playing, I replied to her yahoo message and had the time to reread her message. To my horror what Ate Faith actually wrote was…” Hi Maggie, my husband and I just came home from our dinner. I already bought the stuff I told you about.  My desire and strawberry champagne (Victoria Secret lotions). See you!

21a The wicked borrows and does not repay

Psalm 37:21 The wicked borrows and does not repay,
But the righteous shows mercy and gives.

Thorn in the flesh

Posted in a day in the life of a wife with tags , on April 28, 2008 by Magnolia

As a broadcaster most people pour out heaps and heaps of admiration. Admiration that if allowed can easily get into your head and puff you up…until too much hot air bursts you up and bring you plummeting to the ground.

The good thing is that God gave us thorns in the flesh to keep our feet planted firmly on the ground. Mine is my husband. He does things that make me bow down and humbly ask for God’s help. Surrender.

I know that I am a wife that is nowhere near perfect, my husband as well. We are all a work in progress.

What is your thorn in the flesh? Have you thanked God for it? I have, for it made me realize that I can easily believe that I am the person that I am not.
